Healthy Dieting - September 23rd, 2009

Dieting has become an obsession in the U.S.  Everybody wants to be skinny.  This is because we promote skinniness even though the amount of bigger people far outweigh the skinnier ones, pun intended.  Skinny models grace the covers of magazines simply because they dont make those kinds of clothes for fat people.  The kicker is that instead of people getting off their duffs and doing something about it, they wanna continue to be lazy and just pops some pills.

I’d say that a big part of us eat unhealthy, another part of us are probably stress eaters and so on.  We’d rather take an appetite suppressant than get out and go to the gym.  Since that is so easy to do, the makers of these appetite suppressants are making money by the truckloads and they don’t care if their product is healthy as long as it stops you from eating.  They rarely put any type of disclaimer on their products letting you know what drug interactions it may have.  This is especially true for those of you who plan on buying something from overseas or on the internet.

I remember a story on the news the other day about this young girl, I think she might have been 20 or 21.  She had been overweight all her life and finally just got fed up with it….she began popping these pills left and right.  Then she injured her arm somehow and also began taking some painkillers for the pain and her roommate found her dead one morning.  Autopsy showed that the combination of painkillers with that particular type of appetite suppressant was deadly.  Now you tell me, do you really wanna lose weight that way?
