As for me, I’ve made more than one goal I didn’t end up fulfilling. Plenty have been weight loss goals. For example, I said one year that I was going to lose 20 pounds in one month. Needless to say, that didn’t work out, and frankly I did years later lose that 20 pounds. However, it wasn’t the same way I had previously planned.
But if you want to make your goals and otherwise fulfill your commitments to yourself, there are a few things to remember. The first big thing is actually to make your goals reasonable. 20 pounds in a month is not reasonable. However, had I said I want to lose 8 pounds this month, 2 pounds per week, then it would’ve been much more successful.
Second, you have to break it down. Yes, a month is a longer period of time in all reality. So when you make your goal, break it down not to days necessarily, but to weeks. In one week then, you can see your results, where you are lagging, where you are doing well, and you can make adjustments in general to have greater success.
Third, you want to actually stop waiting for New Years. New Years is the time when we all go out, buy our exercise equipment, commit to a new diet plan, etc. There is no real reason to wait around! Stop waiting to make your weight loss goals, stop waiting to make sure that you are going to get the real stuff. Do it now, because if you fail now and then have to wait until next year, you are really just wasting your time.
